In my sophomore year of high school Mr. Roberts sought me to be his team manager, based on his claim that I received some kind of award for computer knowledge (though I never received such an award). He would hunt me down in the halls during class change, yet I declined his offer several times. Finally I took him up on it. It was a wise decision. Today I am the president and majority owner of what is probably the largest sports timing service for track and cross country in New England. Getting involved with sport also made me realize the importance of civic service and fostered appreciation for my community, which is why I still live here today, and now serve on the school board. Many aspects of my life would be a lot different had it not been for Mr. Roberts unwavering desire for me to be his right-hand man. I am proud to say he is still my friend today, and I enjoyed working with him over the last 13 years.
