Board of Education Renews Business Manager's Contract

The board voted Wednesday to give Ronald Melnik's a new three-year contract.

District Business Manager Ronald Melnick will stay on with Region 13 for another three years.

The Board of Education voted unanimously Wednesday to renew Melnik’s contract with the Durham and Middlefield school district, keeping him on until 2017.

His current contract expires June 30, however a provision in the agreement states that the board needs to vote early on whether it wants to continue his employment, said board Chairman Kerrie Flanagan.

With the board’s approval now in place, the district and Superintendent Kathryn Veronesi will spend the coming months finalizing a new contract for Melnik.

Melnik’s salary for the current fiscal year is around $120,000.

Melnik, a Durham resident, has been with Region 13 since 2007 when he was first hired as business manager. He stayed on until 2011 when he left to take a similar position in Waterford.

He returned in 2012, however, when the position opened back up again in Region 13.
