76 Trombones Fill Memorial School With Music

After months of practice, a colorful production of the musical, "The Music Man" comes to Memorial School's stage.

Last night at Memorial Middle School, members of the community were treated to a great stage performance of The Music Man.

A large cast of talented actors and singers were on hand to perform the memorable tunes of the classic Broadway show by Meredith Wilson. The plot follows the story of a clever con man who tries to trick unwitting townsfolk out of their money. Along the way, he finds love and has a change of heart and 76 trombones come marching into town.

Back in 1957, the show won five Tony Awards and ran for 1,375 performances. In comparison, this cast of 5th and 6th graders would only have two shows to perfect their acting. The students' show was a huge success thanks to the expert direction of music teacher Allen Schulenburg and instrumental teacher Tim Fisher.
