[VIDEO] Selectman: Middlefield Has Rich History in the Manufacturing, Collection and Use of Firearms

On Tuesday, Middlefield First Selectman Jon Brayshaw responded to recent complaints from residents that the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities had overstepped its role by proposing stricter gun control measures in Connecticut.

Citing the town's rich history with firearms, Middlefield First Selectman Jon Brayshaw this week appeared to support recent complaints from several residents who accused the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities of overstepping its role by unveiling a proposal to enact stricter gun laws in the state.

At Tuesday's Board of Selectmen meeting, Brayshaw read a draft of a letter he intended to send to CCM, a taxpayer funded organization, as a result of the complaints.

However, the letter was not on Tuesday's agenda and could not be acted upon by the board and after a brief discussion Brayshaw said he intended to remove the "rhetoric" included in the letter and instead just ask CCM officials to explain their reasoning for the proposal.
