Swimming Area at Wadsworth Falls State Park Closed Over Bacteria
The DEEP has closed the state park beach through the weekend.
The swimming area at Wadsworth Falls State Park in Middletown will be closed until at least Monday after tests revealed unsafe levels of bacteria in the water.
The tests are conducted by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection on a regular basis. The swimming area will be retested on Monday, August 5, according to the state.
Earlier this week, the DEEP banned swimming and picnicking at Wadsworth Falls in Middlefield amid complaints over vandalism and overcrowding.
The state is expected to increase patrols of the area beginning this weekend.
