So-Called "Dream Team' to Primary Both Parties in Killingworth

A former First Selectman has formed a political action committee to challenge Democrats and Republicans in November's election.

Former multi-term Killingworth Republican First Selectman Gerald "Jerry" Lucas announced he has filed paperwork with the town clerk to form a political action committee (PAC) that will run candidates under the third-party name Better Choice 2011.

The new group held a primary Tuesday night at Killingworth Elementary School and nominated several candidates to challenge newly endorsed Republican and Democratic candidates. Democrats and Republicans also held nominating caucuses Tuesday night and each party endorsed a slate of candidates for the November election.

"Our slate of candidates represents both Democrats and Republicans. They are everyday, hard-working residents who are incensed with the recent unnecessary tax increase, the raises the first selectman, town clerk, assistant town clerk and finance director took, when so many folks are just struggling to get by and don't appreciate their new tax increase going to pay Town Hall employee raises during this recession when many of our fine residents are fighting of forclosure," Lucas said.
