Route 147 Bridge Construction Topic of Special Meeting Thursday

Town officials and local business leaders will meet Thursday to discuss the impact of ongoing bridge construction, including at Lyman Orchards and the Durham Fair.

Town officials and business owners will gather Thursday morning in Middlefield to talk about the Route 147 bridge construction.

The meeting will take place at The Lyman Homestead, 3 Lyman Road, at 8 a.m. and is being hosted by the Durham and Middlefield division of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce.

Last month, officials were told that construction was three months behind schedule, raising concern about the impact delays would have on businesses like Lyman Orchards and this fall's Durham Fair.

The $1.7 million road widening project is scheduled to be completed by the spring of 2015.

In December, officials with the Department of Transportation said the construction would not impact the Durham Fair.
