Petrella, Burgess Lead Democratic Ticket in Middlefield

Incumbents, newcomers join November 5 slate.

Middlefield Democrats on Tuesday endorsed several incumbents as well as some new candidates for this fall's municipal election.

Lucy Petrella, who currently chairs Middlefield's board of finance, will lead the party's ticket in another run for First Selectman. Petrella lost to current first selectman Jon Brayshaw by 45 votes two years ago.

“We are very excited about our slate of candidates, particularly with Lucy Petrella leading our ticket.  They are representative of the residents of Middlefield and Rockfall and each brings a unique strength to the office they are seeking.” said Allison Dodge, Chairman of the Middlefield Democratic Town Committee.

Other incumbents on the Nov. 5 ticket include Donna Golub for town clerk, Ellen Waff for treasurer, Anne Olszewski for tax collector and Bob Liptak for board of assessment appeals.

Newcomers Laura Williams and Susan Hueberger will both be candidates for the finance board

“Our candidates are looking forward to talking with voters and discussing those issues most important to the residents of Middlefield and Rockfall," Dodge said.

Middlefield's Republican slate was not available Wednesday morning but Brayshaw and selectman Edward Bailey have both submitted the necessary paperwork to run for office. Robert Yamartino has also submitted his intent to run for the finance board.
