October Nor'easter to Cost Middlefield $21,650

The town recently received notice that the Federal Emergency Management Agency would pay for 75 percent of the clean-up costs, or $64,951.

The Town of Middlefield spent $86,601 digging out of and cleaning up from last year's rare October snowstorm.

But thanks to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, taxpayers will only be on the hook for a quarter of the bill — or $21,650.

The federal agency recently notified town officials that they would be receiving 75 percent reimbursement for expenses resulting from the storm which included everything from highway department labor to shelter related costs.
