Middlefield Selectmen Approve Powder Ridge Deal with Brownstone

By a 2-1 vote, selectmen agreed Monday afternoon to sell the property to Sean Hayes for $700,000.


Middlefield selectman have agreed to sell Powder Ridge to Brownstone owner Sean Hayes for $700,000.

Selectman Dave Burgess voted against the sales agreement following an executive session with attorneys from both sides on Monday, but First Selectman Jon Brayshaw and selectman Ed Bailey favored the deal.

The sales agreement must be voted on by residents of the town. Copies of the sales agreement will be made available at town hall and a public hearing will be scheduled soon, according to Brayshaw.

Yay for Middlefield. Good for you two selectmen for getting this job done. I believe this will be a wonderful asset for Middlefield again- but in the unlikely event Brownstone fails- I beg you- DO NOT buy this property back- Let it go now. Lets all work toward making it happen-not making it fail.

Lets all just help Sean Hayes be successful. Too bad that only two of the selectman are getting the job done
