Voter Turnout Down in Middlefield Early On

By 2 p.m. Tuesday, 702 residents had voted in Middlefield's election.

Despite unseasonably warm weather, early voter turnout in Middlefield Tuesday lagged behind 2009's town election turnout.

As of 2 p.m., 702 (22.3 percent) voters had cast ballots at the Community Center, compared to 846 (26.9 percent) in 2009.

"It's a little bit behind," moderator Kieran Cahill told Patch. "It's definitely not the weather."
