Lesser: The Residents of Middlefield Deserve an Explanation

State Rep. Matt Lesser (D-Middlefield, Middletown, Durham) issued the following statement late Tuesday after the to purchase and redevelop the town-owned Powder Ridge Ski Resort by Alpine Ridge LLC:

"I am deeply disappointed that town leaders in Middlefield and Alpine were unable to come to terms on Powder Ridge. The State of Connecticut supports redevelopment - and the jobs it will bring - 100%. We cannot afford to drag our feet on a project so important to the town and the region."

"I am proud to have worked with former Senator Tom Gaffey to secure a water diversion permit and a $500,000 state grant from the Department of Economic and Community Development that will support redevelopment," Lesser said.

"The residents of Middlefield deserve an explanation for why this deal fell through and I join them in anger and frustration at delay after delay after delay."
