Killingworth WPCA Duties Reassigned to BOS

The Killingworth Board of Selectmen will act as the WPCA as of March 3, 2011

Killingworth's Board of Selectmen voted to reassign the duties of the Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) to the Board of Selectmen and extend their thanks to the current WPCA members for their service, during their meeting on Feb. 28.

The WPCA exists to monitor communal water systems, but there are currently none in Killingworth. According to First Selectwoman Catherine Iino the current WPCA is being disbanded because it does not have an active function at the present time.  They previously had an active role when the town had a sludge lagoon, but that closed a few years ago.

The Authority still exists and if it is needed for an active role in the future, a new board will be appointed at that time.  The current WPCA members are aware of the reassignment and are in agreement.  Their appointments will be rescinded so that the duties of the WPCA can be assigned to the Board of Selectmen.  The changes took effect March 3.
