Killingworth BOS Amends Horse Ordinance

Board also calls for Town Meeting next month

The Killingworth Board of Selectmen discussed a variety of topics at their Feb. 14 meeting, including changes to the Town Ordinance regarding horses, the Call to Meeting for March 2, 2011 and the opening of the bid for a trash compactor. 

The board voted unanimously to amend Section 360-4. Horses and other livestock or pet animals of the Town Ordinance to read as follows:  In no event shall any horse or other livestock or pet animal be ridden or walked on any park, athletic field or playground, except in areas designated by the Commission. 

First Selectwoman Catherine Iino gave notice of a Special Town Meeting to be held at Killingworth Elementary School, 340 Route 81, Killingworth on Wed., March 2 at 8 p.m. to address the following:

            1. To approve and accept the Annual Report of the Board of Finance for Fiscal Year 2009-2010. 

            2. To consider, discuss, and vote upon acceptance of the Parmelee Farm STEAP 4-66g Grant Agreement, awarded to the Municipality of Killingworth, as recommended by the Board of Selectmen, and to approve expenditure of the funds according to the grant proposal, to the extent possible.

           3.  To discuss and vote upon an amendment to Town ordinance 360(4), recommended by the Park and Recreation Commission and approved at board of selectmen meetings.

           4.  To discuss and vote upon a revised Demolition Delay Ordinance, recommended by the Historic Review Committee. 

During Monday's meeting the board entertained bids for a new trash compactor to be purchased with funds from the Energy Block Grant.  Four bids were submitted from Rudco products of Vineland, NJ, Sanitary Equipment Co. Inc. of West Haven, CT, Toter Inc. of Statesville, NC, On the Spot Welding of Thomaston, CT and East Coast Containers of Waterbury, CT.  The bids will be reviewed and processed in accordance with protocol.

The Board of Selectmen’s next regularly scheduled meeting is Monday, Feb. 28 at 7:00 p.m.
