Durham Lawmaker Holding Forum on Internet Safety, Cyber Bullying

Rep. Vin Candelora will be holding the forum to help educate parents on internet safety.

State Rep. Vincent Candelora will be hosting an internet safety forum on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Candelora, who represents a part of Durham, is hosting the forum to help educate parents on internet safety, cyber bullying, social media and cell phone apps.

"The forum is in response to a large number of parents expressing concern about what their children are doing online, without their knowledge and worry that they lack sufficient understanding of the cyber world their children interact in," said spokesman Chris Fryxell.

Scott Driscoll, a State Capitol Police officer who also works as an online safety expert, is attending the forum to give a brief presentation and to answer questions from concerned parents. Driscoll’s company, Internet Safety Concepts, focuses on helping families learn about being safe while using the internet and other technology.

The forum is from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the North Branford Intermediate School Cafeteria at 654 Foxon Road in North Branford. The event is free and open to the public. For more information contact Representative Candelora’s office by calling 860-240-8700 or sending an email to vincent.candelora@housegop.ct.gov.
