Sen. Len Suzio will meet with taxpayers over coffee at in Middlefield Tuesday morning.
Suzio, who represents voters in the 13th District which includes Middlefield, Middletown, Meriden and Cheshire, is hosting the "Coffee With Len" event from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. as he prepares for this year's legislative session which begins in February.
Suzio has proposed capping the state’s “hidden” gas tax and eliminating the tax on social security income, and will ask voters to sign petitions that support both proposals. He says hundreds of people have already signed the petitions, which can also be found on his website.
"I urge taxpayers to come out first thing in the morning to say hello, grab some coffee and breakfast, and tell me their concerns about what's going on in Hartford," Suzio said. "Clearly, people are fed up with the high taxes and the wasteful spending. This is an informal way for me to connect with taxpayers and get to know them better. I am fighting for them in Hartford – fighting to lower taxes and to reduce wasteful government spending. I thank Guida's staff for allowing me to host this event. Hearing directly from taxpayers in these settings, I feel, makes me a better legislator."
Suzio will also meet with constituents on Tuesday, Jan. 31 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the .
Anyone unable to make the events can contact Sen. Suzio's office with comments, ideas, or questions by sending an email to Len.Suzio@cga.ct.gov or by calling 800 842-1421.
He also noted that future events at Guida's are planned. "I will be right here every fourth Tuesday of the month from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.," Suzio said. "Mark your calendars!"
