The New Haven Register is reporting that Republican Selectwoman Cindy Cartier has been selected to run against Sen. Edward Meyer, a democrat, in the upcoming 12th Senate District race.
No primaries were held in the selection of the candidates, the article says, noting that nominating conventions were held in Guilford to endorse the selected candidates.
The Register reports that Cartier and her husband own New England Car Wash in Branford and she says the government needs people in business "who get it."
Her opponent, Meyer hopes to be re-elected for a fifth term.
“I’m chairman of the Environment Committee and I’m trying to tie jobs to the environment through building jobs in alternative energy and conservation," Meyer said in the article. "I’ve been a major sponsor for the first bio-diesel plant in Connecticut that’s being built right now at New Haven Terminal."
According to the article, the 12th District covers the towns of Durham, Killingworth, Madison, Guilford, Branford and North Branford.
