Bond Commission to Vote on $2.46 Million Grant for Dam Repairs

Funds would pay for work expected to begin this summer at Lake Beseck in Middlefield.

 

The State Bond Commission is scheduled to vote next week on a $2.46 million bond package that would be used to pay for dam repairs at Lake Beseck in Middlefield.

The money was requested by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection which is responsible for the project at the state-owned lake. The DEEP has tentively scheduled the repairs to begin later this summer.

"I'm excited about it because of all of the work that people involved with the lake did last year to get to this point," former State Sen. Len Suzio said on Wednesday.

Suzio, who represented the 13th Senate District which includes Middlefield until this past January, was a member of the Lake Beseck Environment Committee which has spent the past 18-months working on improvements at the lake.

The commission is scheduled to vote on the bond package on Friday, March 13 during a 10:30 a.m. meeting at the Legislative Office Building.
