If you're taking a late summer vacation or if a physical disability prevents you from voting, absentee ballots for the referndum on Powder Ridge ski area are now available at Middlefield Town Hall.
The ballots arrived Friday morning and the referendum will take place on August 16.
Earlier this week, town officials agreed to hold a referendum rather than a vote at town meeting in order provide more voters with an opportunity to cast a ballot in the $700,000 sale of the property to Sean Hayes, owner of Powder Ridge Mountain Park and Resort.
In order to vote by absentee ballot, residents must meet one of the following criteria:
- Active service in the armed forces
- Absence from town (during voting hours - 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
- Illness or Physical disability
- Religious tenants
A designee may pick up an absentee ballot after an application for the ballot is filled out and returned to town hall. A designee includes a person caring for an individual, a family member, a police officer or an official with the registrars of vorers.
