Woman Charged With DWI in Route 66 Crash

A Wallingford woman has been charged with DWI for a crash last spring along Route 66 in Middlefield.

Daleth Dube, 24, of 663 North Elm Street, turned herself in to state police on Aug. 19 and was charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol and failure to drive in the proper lane.

On May 17, according to police, Dube was traveling eastbound along the highway in a 2005 Nissan Altima when she crossed over the yellow line and struck a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Nicholas Norton, 23, of Meriden, head on.

The crash happened just before midnight.

Dube and Norton were taken to local hospitals and both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage, according to police.

Dube was released on $1,000 bond. She's due in court on Sept. 4.
