Update: Durham Driver Involved in Fatal Accident on Route 9
A construction worker was killed Wednesday night near Exit 1, police are investigating.
Dale Perzan, of 111 Whispering Brook, Kensington, was killed Wednesday night when he was working behind a truck doing construction work on Route 9 South, about a half mile north of Exit 1 in Old Saybrook, state police say.
The truck is owned by Center Trucking Co., Inc. of Wethersfield, police said.
The truck was engaged in construction work on the highway and Perzan was working behind the truck around 9:15 p.m. Perzan "sustained a fatal injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene," the report says. The driver of the truck, Joseph Kelly of Durham, was not injured, according to police.
