Troop F Police Blotter — Arrests Ending Nov. 2, 2013

The latest arrests relating to Durham, Middlefield and other surrounding towns in the region.

The following arrest information came from the State Police Troop F barracks in Westbrook. It does not indicate a conviction.

Middlefield

Nov. 2

Bethany Caraballo, 39, 36 Woodland Drive, Apt. 36, Cromwell, was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct and third-degree assault stemming from an incident on Nov. 2 at a Main Street home in Middlefield earlier that day. Caraballo was held on a $1,000 bond and is due in Middlesex Superior Court on Nov. 15.

Heidi Hopkins, 32, 9 Maple Place, Middletown, was charged with a criminal violation of a protective order after police said she was arrested in Middlefield on Nov. 2 around 3:15 a.m. Hopkins was released on a $500 non-surety bond and is due in Middlesex Superior Court on Nov. 4.

Cara Carta, 23, 172 Main St., Apt. C, Rockfall, was charged with disorderly conduct after police responded to a report of a suspicious incident at her apartment building in Rockfall on Nov. 2. Carta was later released on a $500 non-surety bond and is due in Middlesex Superior Court on Nov. 15.

Old Lyme

Oct. 27

State police are investigating an attempted burglary on Four Mile River Road in Old Lyme. According to police, unknown perpetrators tried to gain access into the home however they were unsuccessful on Oct. 27. Nothing was missing from the home. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Martin Lane of the Old Lyme Town Police at 860-434-1986. 

Robert Gentile, 62, 33 Grassy Hill Road, Old Lyme, was charged with operating under the influence and improper parking after police got a 911 call that a vehicle was stopped in the middle of the Old Post Road on Oct. 27 and the driver was slumped over. Emergency responders arrived and found Gentile in the car, police said. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody on a $1,000 bond. Gentile is due in New London Superior Court on Nov. 7.

Oct. 31

State police are investigating a break-in at the Black Hall Marina in Old Lyme reported on Oct. 31. According to a police report, someone removed a window air conditioner and gained entry through a door on the south side of the building. The following was stolen: $120 in cash, five Penn reels, 20 rods and assorted reels, 200 fishing lures, 100 hooks and leaders, an unknown amount of fishing line, 40 fishing knives, a flat screen TV, T-shirts with Black Hall Marina on them, food, cigar humidors and other items. Police are looking into surveillance video that may have captured the burglary.

Lyme

Oct. 30

Sean R. Anderson, 26, 10 Traders Court, Norwich, was charged on Oct. 30 with third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny stemming from an arrest warrant for an incident on Blood Street in Lyme on Feb. 14. Anderson is currently incarcerated on unrelated charges. He was held on a $30,000 bond for these new charges and is due in New London Superior Court on Oct. 30.

Guilford

Oct. 27

Buqing Ma, 18, 600 Todt Hill Road, Staten Island, NY, was charged with reckless driving after police said they received several 911 calls reporting a black Porsche going north on I-95 in Guilford at a high rate of speed on Oct. 27. Ma was pulled over and taken into custody without incident. Ma is due Middlesex Superior Court on Nov. 12.

Oct. 29

David M. Smith, 37, 49 Glen Road, West Haven, was charged with impersonating a police officer and a breach of peace after police got a complaint on Oct. 29 stating that a person attempted to pull him over utilizing a gold badge and a cap with the word POLICE on it. The complainant followed the alleged police vehicle and got the registration. State police then tracked down the suspect, later identified as Smith, on I-95 in Guilford. Smith was taken into custody on a $5,000 bond and is due in New Haven Superior Court on Nov. 13.

Deep River

Oct. 28

Peter Atkins, 45, 121 Falls Landing, Deep River, was charged with third-degree assault after police investigated a domestic incident at a property on Falls Landing Road in Deep River. Atkins was held on a $1,000 non-surety bond and was scheduled to appear in Middlesex Superior Court on Oct. 28. 

Westbrook

Oct. 28

Maryann Vece, 59, 21 Blue Gill Lane, Westbrook, was charged with operating under the influence and a failure to grant the right of way after police said he was involved in a minor accident in the area of Exit 64 in Westbrook on Oct. 28. Police later determined Vece was under the influence. She was taken into custody on a $1,000 bond and is due in New London Superior Court on Nov. 7.

Oct. 31

James Welch, 27, 95 Chittenden Hill Road, Westbrook, was charged with second-degree failure to appear after he was taken into custody on Oct. 31. He was processed on this and other unrelated charges, including burglary.

Middletown

Oct. 29

State police investigated a suspicious incident at the Vinal Technical High School in Middletown in which a 15-year-old female student posted alarming remarks on Facebook. The student was charged with a breach of peace on Oct. 29. She is due in Middletown Superior Juvenile Court on Nov. 8.

Haddam

Oct. 31

Lilian Kiige, 37, no address given, was pulled over on Route 9 southbound in Haddam after police said she was driving 93 mph on Oct. 31. Police found she had an expired Massachusetts license and that the license was suspended in that state. She was also suspended in Connecticut four times and police had an active warrant for her arrest out of the Troop C barracks in Tolland. Kiige was taken into custody and is due in Middlesex Superior Court on Nov. 13. She's also due in Rockville Superior Court on Nov. 14.

Timothy Malone, 29, 27 River St., Deep River, was charged with operating under the influence and improper parking after police police arrested him on Route 154 in Haddam on Oct. 31. Malone was held on a $1,000 bond and is due in Middlesex Superior Court on Nov. 13.

Nov. 2

Mathieu Roberts, 55, 16 Grey Hollow Road, Norwalk, was charged with operating under the influence and a failure to drive in the proper lane after police pulled him over on Route 9 northbound in Haddam on Nov. 2. Roberts was released on a $1,000 bond and is due in Middlesex Superior Court on Nov. 14.
