State Police Warn of Fire Marshall Inspection Scam
A local business recently reported to police that an individual falsely claiming to be from the fire marshal's office requested to conduct an inspection.
The Resident State Trooper's Office is warning residents to always ask for proper identification from those who say they are public officials after a Durham business was recently targeted by an individual falsely claiming to be from the fire marshall's office.
The incident occurred about a month ago. And the local business reported that the individual claiming to be from the fire marshal’s office wanted to conduct an inspection.

As they continue their investigation, state police are asking residents to share with the resident trooper's office if there are aware of any similar instances experienced by local businesses or others..
