State Police Investigate Armed Robbery in Durham

Suspect in robbery of Quick Stop Country Store on Route 17 still on the loose.

State Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Quick Stop Country Store, 1041 New Haven Road (Route 17), in Durham.

The robbery happened around 4:15 p.m. Thursday, according to Sgt. Charles Burns.

The male suspect entered the store armed with a pistol and was inside for less than a minute before leaving with an unknown amount of cash, Burns said.

There were about six people inside the convenience store at the time of the robbery, but no injuries were reported.

Burns said the suspect wore a mask, but no further description of the suspect was provided. The suspect fled south along Route 17 in a vehicle.

As of 7 p.m. State Police Major Crimes detectives remained on the scene and the store remained closed.
