Police: Homeowner Came Home to Burglar in Driveway

State Police are investigating a residential burglary on Haddam Quarter Road Wednesday evening.

It appears that a Durham homeowner came face to face with a burglar who had just robbed her home.

According to State Police Sgt. Sal Calvo, a resident on Haddam Quarter Road pulled into her driveway around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and discovered an unfamiliar car.

When the homeowner asked the driver what they were doing, the driver replied that he was turning around, Calvo said.

The homeowner called 911 after realizing the home had been burglarized.

State police remained on the scene as of 7:30 p.m. and Calvo said it appears that electronics were stolen from the home.

He said the homeowner was able to provide a partial plate description. A state police K-9 unit was called to the scene to conduct a sweep of the area but was unsuccessful.

In November, a flatscreen television and an iPad were taken during a residential burglary on Haddam Quarter Road. Police have not made any arrests in the break-in.

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
