State Police Investigate Burglaries in Durham

State police are investigating two residential burglaries in Durham over the past several days, according to Resident Trooper Pete DiGioia.

The burglaries occurred in the north end of town on Friday and again on Monday evening, he said.

Police were called to a home on Royal Oak Drive on July 19 where the homeowner had discovered that two televisions had been taken from the residence. Police believe the burglar may have gained access to the home through a sliding glass door.

Around noon on Monday, a burglar stole jewelry and some loose change from a home on Middlefield Road (Route 147), DiGioia said. The burglar initially tried cutting through a screen window but ended up kicking in a side door to gain access to the home, he said.

A neighbor described the suspect as a slender white male in his mid-to-late 20s, about 5'10" with dark hair, according to DiGioia. The suspect was wearing a two-tone sweatshirt and appeared to be on foot.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity should call police immediately at 860-399-2100 or for emergencies call 911.
