Route 17 in Durham Re-Opened After One-Car Crash

Motorist was issued a ticket.

A section of Route 17 in Durham was shut down Sunday afternoon following a one-car accident.

Sgt. Sal Calvo said the person drove off the road around 2 p.m. and collided with an electrical pole near a home at 728 New Haven Road, between the intersections of Coe Road and School House Lane.

Police were forced to shut down the road while Connecticut Light & Power repaired the pole, which snapped in half, Calvo said.

The driver was not injured. Calvo said he was issued a ticket for operating too fast for conditions. He said he didn't have an identity of the person, however the driver was from Milford.
