Report: Couple Arrested for Burglary in Durham

Shane Martingano of Hartford and Alea Derota of Middletown were arrested by state police following the burglary of a shed Tuesday morning along Haddam Quarter Road, the Middletown Press is reporting.

 

State police have arrested a Hartford man and a Middletown woman in connection with a burglary earlier this week on Haddam Quarter Road in Durham, according to the Middletown Press.

According to the report, Shane Martingano, 30, and Alea Derota, 27, were arrested on Tuesday within hours of the overnight burglary of a shed.

Police say Martingano stole a generator and power tools from the shed after cutting a pad lock and was later found trying to sell the items at a pawn shop in Rocky Hill, the report says.

Martingano was charged with two counts of third degree burglary, larceny and criminal mischief. His bond was set at $150,000 and he's due back in court March 1.

Court records show Martingano has a long criminal history dating back to at least 2003. He's previously pleaded guilty to charges of larceny, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, unlawful restraint, criminal violation of a protective order and robbery.

Derota, according to the Middletown Press, is charged with fourth degree larceny by possession. She's also a suspect in a burglary at the Highway Package Store in Higganum, the report says.

State police are still investigating several other recent burglaries in the area.
