Update: New Haven Man Dies in Construction Accident in Middlefield

Police say Lamar Liddell, 35, died Friday morning after falling off of staging at a new home construction site on Cherry Hill Road.

State police have identified a man who died Friday morning in a construction site accident in Middlefield.

Lamar Liddell, 35, of New Haven, was pronounced dead shortly after 9 a.m. at the scene of the site at 323 Cherry Hill Road, according to Sgt. Sal Calvo.

According to investigators, Liddell fell about 12-feet off staging at the home and suffered a fatal head injury. The accident happened in front of at least one other construction worker.

Middlefield firefighters, state and local police arrived on the scene a short time later.

Officials from the state medical examiner's office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating the accident, Calvo said.

An autopsy will be performed on Liddell.

The home is being built by Luanci Construction LLC of North Haven.
