Police Investigate Hit & Run in Middlefield

Witnesses say a car swerved toward a man doing yard work at St. Colman's Church Tuesday night.

Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident in Middlefield on Tuesday night.

State police confirmed to Patch that a man was struck around 7 p.m. in front of St. Colman Church on Hubbard Street. The victim's injuries were said to be minor.

The victim was weed whacking the church's lawn when a car traveling on Hubbard Street swerved and struck him, according to an email sent by an aquaintance of the victim.

Police say the vehicle — a grey or silver car with a sunroof — fled the scene towards Middletown.

The suspects are in their teens, according to police.

The case is being investigated by Middlefield Police Officer Scott Halligan.
