The fire was reported shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday by a neighbor who witnessed flames shooting 20 feet in the air, according to Middlefield Fire Marshal Stanley Atwell.

The fire caused an explosion but no injuries were reported.

Atwell said the vehicle was parked about 50 feet away from the building and belonged to an alumni of the school. That person has not been identified and police could not be reached for comment.

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
