Police: High Speed Chase Called Off in Durham

State police are searching for the driver involved in a dangerous chase on Jan. 1 that ended along Route 68.

State police are searching for a driver involved in a high speed chase that ended along Route 68 in Durham earlier this month.

According to a police report, shortly after midnight on Jan. 1, police attempted to stop a driver for speeding along I-91, near exit 15 in Wallingford.

The driver, according to the report, refused to stop and eluded police by driving the wrong way on the exit 15 entrance ramp to the highway.

The chase continued eastbound along Route 68 through Wallingford and into Durham. Police say the pursuit was broken off when the motorist began driving into oncoming traffic with the vehicle's lights off.

Police have not released a description of the vehicle or a suspect.
