Middlefield firefighters and State Police were called to Lake Beseck Sunday afternoon for a possible ice rescue.
The initial distress call came in around noon but Middlefield Fire Chief Pete Tyc told Patch that it turned out to be a group of ice fisherman that had gathered at the southern end of the lake, near the dam.
No one had to be rescued from the lake but the group was asked to leave because of the danger of thin ice, he said.
Temperatures climbed to 50 degrees on Sunday and only about half of the lake is still covered in ice.
The fisherman did not appear to be from Middlefield, Tyc said.
