A Haddam man who drove his car into a utility pole along Cherry Hill Road in Middlefield Monday night has been arrested, according to police.
David J. Ferrari III, 22, of 691 Saybrook Road, was charged with operating under suspension and other motor vehicle violations, police say.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m., police say Ferrari was traveling northbound in his 2011 Nissan Juke, near the intersection of Strickland Road, when he failed to negotiate a turn and took out the utility pole.
The crash briefly knocked out power to area residents.
Ferrari was taken to Hartford Hospital after complaining of minor injuries. A passenger in the vehicle was not injured, according to police.
Ferrari plead guilty in October to operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs/alcohol following his arrest by State Police from Troop D Barracks in Danielson in September, according to court records. He received a six month suspended jail sentence and 18-months probation and was fined $500.
A report says Ferrari was charged in 2010 with speeding, evading responsibility and failure to maintain an established lane in East Lyme.
He's due in court next month.
