Police: Body Found in Remote Area of Middletown

Police say a male's body was found Monday afternoon during a search involving authorities from Middletown, Meriden and Middlefield.

Authorities are investigating the discovery of a body in a remote, wooded area of Middletown, according to police.

Police would only describe the body as a male and said the discovery was made Monday afternoon.

Patch learned Monday evening that authorities spent part of the afternoon searching near Higby Mountain near Route 66, although it's not clear if the search was related.

Police have identified the male but they are not releasing his name pending notification of family.

According to a press release, at approximately 3 p.m., Middletown Police were assisting Meriden Police with a suspicious motor vehicle when A K-9 track was initiated. The track eventually led authorities to the body, according to a press release.

Firefighters from the Middletown Fire Department, Westfield Fire Department and a police officer from Middlefield helped in the search and recovery, police said.

The circumstances surrounding the discovery remain under investigation.

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
