Police Blotter: Accidental Drowning

Colleen Mahoney of Higganum drowned while fishing in Higganum Creek.

A day of fishing ended in tragedy on May 6. Colleen Mahoney, 48, of 74 Thayer Road in Higganum was fishing along the waterfalls of Higganum Creek when she lost her balance and fell. According to police reports, Mahoney hit her head on the rocks as she tumbled into the fast-moving stream off Depot Road in Higganum. 

A preliminary investigation conducted by police officers from Troop F found that the drowning was accidental.
