Police Blotter: March 22 — April 1

Thursday, March 22

At approximately 12:32 p.m., state police were called to an accident just south of the Route 81/80 traffic circle. According to a report, Justin Bloom, 24, of Clinton fell asleep at the wheel and his vehicle struck another vehicle turning left into Killingworth True Value. No injuries were reported. Bloom was issued an infraction for following too close.

Stanley Malinowski, 40, of Deep River, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol. According to a report, state police were conducting DUI enforcement at approximately 11:30 p.m. when officers observed a suspicious vehicle traveling on an abandoned dirt road. Police stopped the vehicle along Route 80 in Killingworth. Malinowski failed to perform a standardized field sobriety test and was taken into custody, police say.

Jacob Hartzell, 19, of Higganum, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief after police say he ran over a mailbox with his vehicle on Pond Meadow Road in Killingworth. Hartzell also faces a disorderly conduct charge for a disturbance at his residence at 972 Killingworth Road, Higganum. 

Thursday, March 29

Nicole Littlefield, 28, of Meriden, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and threatening. According to a report, police were called to investigate a suspicous incident complaint filed by a Department of Children and Families (DCF) case worker. According to the case worker, Littlefield threatened to "blow up her home and blow up the DCF building" if her parental rights were taken away. The report says Littlefield was arrested along Route 66 in Middlefield. During her arrest, police discovered that Littlefield was wanted on an outstanding warrant in Berlin where she faces a separate disorderly conduct charge.

Sunday, April 1

At approximately 3:40 a.m., state police were called to an accident along Route 154 in Haddam. According to police, Lynsey Meeker, 22, of Durham was traveling southbound when she lost control and struck a wooden fence and trees. Meeker was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. A passenger in the vehicle was not injured. Meeker was issued an infraction for failure to maintain proper lane.
