Middletown Arrests: Nov. 26 to Dec. 13

The following information was provided by the Middletown Police public information officer. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

THREE COUNTS SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Dec. 13 at 8:45 a.m., Gary Lamarre, 53, of South Main Street, Torrington, turned himself in on an outstanding warrant from State Police Troop F, Westbrook.

DRIVING THE WRONG WAY ON A ONE-WAY STREET, OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED — On Dec. 11 at 12:30 p.m., Juan Berdecia, 20, of Deerfield Avenue, Hartford, drove backward at a high rate of speed on Ferry Street then back onto Main Street, according to police.

THREATENING — On Dec. 10 at 7:20 p.m., Surendra T. Kothigoda-Kankanamge, 34, of Burgundy Hill Lane was charged in connection with threatening to kill his wife because she asked him for a divorce, according to the report. He denied threatening her, police say, but admitted assaulting her a few days before.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, INTERFERING WITH AN OFFICER — On Dec. 8, David Fernandez, 36, of Red Clover Circle caused damage to his home and made "alarming" statements to his wife, according to the report.

FAILURE TO RESPOND — On Dec. 8 at 9:28 p.m., Efrain Gerardo Ramos, 34, of Main Street was seen standing on Main Street with an outstanding warrant.

TWO COUNTS VIOLATION OF PROBATION — On Dec. 8 at 7:05 p.m., Jakwan Walton, 21, of East Main Street was seen at Definitely Urban Clothing on Main Street with two outstanding warrants.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On Dec. 7, Carmen Arocho, 40, of Rose Circle allegedly struck her live-in boyfriend several times during an argument.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On Nov. 30, Terrence Nelson, 55, of no fixed address was at First Baptist Church on Court Street sleeping on the steps, police say, preventing parishioners from entering. He refused to leave and was irate; then officers realized he was intoxicated and sent him to Middlesex Hospital. The report says he yelled obscenities and spit a emergency workers.

IMPROPER USE OF MARKER PLATE — On Nov. 26, Oswald Johnson, 31, of Long Lane caused a car accident in the Illiano's parking lot on Washington Street, according to police.
