Middlefield Resident Fined For Dumping Trash

Official says resident left garbage on lawn of transfer station on a day it was closed.

A Middlefield resident was recently fined after dumping trash on the lawn at the Durham Middlefield transfer station, according to state police.

Concetto Monarca, 74, of Middlefield was fined $220 for littering, police said.

According to an official with the transfer station, who asked not to be identified, Monarca dumped the trash on the Wednesday, July 6.

"We were closed Monday (July 4) and open Tuesday. A fine resident came in Wednesday, decided he would unload his pick-up of trash on the front lawn," the official said.

"I went and got our rubber gloves, that we use for chemicals, ripped open the bags and found three addresses and a FedEx bill with the resident's address," he explained. His next step was to contact police.

Middlefield police eventually tracked down Monarca, who initially denied dumping the trash, according to the official.
