Middlefield Man Arrested for Third Time Since May

Michael Spires faces larceny charge following latest arrest, police say.

A Middlefield man charged with stealing catalytic converters in North Branford back in April was arrested again this month, twice according to police.

25-year-old Michael Pires, of 190 Powder Hill Road, was arrested by Wallingford Police on Wednesday, July 20 on unspecified charges.

According to police, the subsequent investigation revealed that Pires was also wanted by state police for larceny. He was transported to State Police Troop F Barracks in Westbrook.

His bond was set at $25,000. Pires is due in court on August 3.

In May,  by North Branford Police for allegedly stealing catalytic converters from service vans at a local business on April 11.

Police say the investigation revealed that Pires attempted to sell the valuable parts at a local scrap metal dealer. The original theft was interrupted when a patrolling North Branford Police Officer observed Pires's vehicle acting suspiciously on the night of the thefts and other converters were recovered at that time. Pires managed to escape arrest by fleeing the area. 

He was charged with fourth degree larceny, second degree criminal mischief and conspiracy in that case.

He was eventually arrested on May 11.

Criminal Mischief Suspect Arrested in Middlefield

On Wednesday, July 20, Middlefield Police arrested Mike F. Quirk, of unknown address, on an arrest warrant for criminal mischief.

According to police, Quirk is accused of spray painting racial slurs in the area of Main Street and Reeds Gap Road in Middlefield.

Police say a second suspect, Luke Koba, of unknown address, turned himself into police on similar charges.

Violation of a Protective Order

On Friday, July 8, Nicholas Minor, 25, of 11R Dead Hill Road, Durham, turned himself in to Middletown Police for a PRAWN warrant. According to police Minor was wanted for violation of a protective order, which resulted in a violation of his probation.
