Man, 88, Arrested for Trespassing at Bank for Third Time in Three Months

Middletown Police say the Middlefield resident, a lifelong customer, believes there is an exclusive club for bank members at the branch.

A Middlefield man was arrested last week for the third time in three months after turning up at a Middletown bank demanding to see the president and be let into an exclusive customer club, according to police.

On Dec. 2 at 10:18 a.m., Joseph L. Marcati, 88, of Jackson Hill Road, Middlefield, walked into Liberty Bank on Main Street in Middletown after being warned in the past not to return, according to the report.

At 11:54 a.m., police were called back to the bank who again entered and left before they arrived after asking to see the doors to the "executive level" of the bank.

The report says he was found walking on Court Street and admitted to taking a taxi to the bank, where he is a lifelong customer, because he wanted to talk to the president.

Police say Marcati believes there is an exclusive club for bank members at this branch. His conservator, the report says, affirmed Marcati will continue to return and needs to be in a residential living facility under constant supervision.
