Home Burglary in Essex May Be Connected to Break-ins in Killingworth

Police suspect daytime burglar is targeting homes on or near Route 80.

State police are investigating a home burglary in Essex that may be connected to four other residential break-ins in Killingworth over the past month.

The latest burglary happened on Friday, in the Ivoryton section of Essex, according to Killingworth Resident Trooper Matthew Ward.

"A neighbor got a vehicle description, but we're still trying to confirm that," Ward said, indicating that the burglar or burglars may be targeting homes along or near Route 80.

On July 4, two computers were stolen from a home on in Killingworth. It was the fourth break-in in the town since June 14.

The other burglaries took place at homes on Route 80, Roast Meat Hill Road and Little City Road.

All of the burglaries have taken place during daytime hours.

Police are reminding residents to keep their doors and windows locked and urging anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious to call them at (860) 399-2100.
