Haddam Man Dies After Tree Falls on Him

The 70-year-old victim was cutting down a tree with his son Saturday when it fell on him.

 

A Haddam man died Saturday afternoon after the tree he was cutting down fell on top of him.

The accident happened on Plains Road in Haddam, although the victim has not been identified.

According to Sgt. Sav Calvo of Connecticut State Police, the man was using a chainsaw to cut down a tree with his son when it fell on him.

The Haddam Fire Department responded to the scene and the victim was airlifted to Hartford Hosptal with a broken femur and severe lacerations, Calvo said.

He was later pronounced dead. The accident is under investigation.
