Update: Durham Man Arrested on Sex Assault Charges

The 23-year-old is a special education teacher in New London.

A Durham man who teaches at a New London school has been arrested on charges he sexually assaulted a juvenile, several news outlets are reporting.

Jeffrey Francis, 23, of 226 Skeet Club Road, was arrested at his home after police searched served a search warrant for his computer and other electronic devices.

According to a report, Francis is a teacher at the Interdistrict School for Arts and Communication in New London, but no students at the school were involved.

Francis allegedly opened a private Facebook account under a pseudonym to communicate with the juvenile, police said, and began meeting with the juvenile in January.

The New London Day reports that Francis was released Wednesday after posting $100,000 bond.

He has been placed on administrative leave, according to the school.
