Update: Despite Arrests, State Police Urge Homeowners to Remain Vigilant

State Police are urging residents to remain vigilant despite the arrests this week of three burglary suspects linked to crimes in Durham, Killingworth and Haddam over the winter.

In an alert sent to residents of Killingworth today, Resident State Trooper Matthew Ward said police are investigating a residential burglary on Spencer Road in Haddam that took place on Tuesday.

Ward provided the following reminders for the warmer weather approaching:

-watch for bicyclists and pedestrians in the roadways and walking in the neighborhoods
-don't leave your valuables out in the open in your vehicles if you leave your vehicles to go on walks/hikes
-remember to lock your vehicles in your driveway at night
-don't leave valuable items out in your yards overnight or your sheds open/unlocked when not in use.
-remain vigilant about reporting suspicious people or suspicious vehicles on your streets or in your neighborhoods

In the most recent burglary thieves stole jewelry and power tools. Police say a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix, possibly driven by a female and being used by two white males, was seen in the area around the time of the forced entry burglary.

If you notice something suspicious contact police immediately at 860-399-2100 or call 911 in case of emergency.
"This vehicle pulled into a driveway in another area of town and two the white males asked for directions after knocking on a door, on the same day of the burglary on Spencer Road. They were nervous and left in a hurry," police said.
