What's On Tonight: 'The Amazing Race,' 'The Good Wife,' 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition'

TV tips for Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011

"The Amazing Race," 8 p.m., CBS

So we are sad about the loss of Ethan and Jenna, although not necessarily surprised, as Rob and Amber can certainly attest that Survivor and TAR are two different animals. The 10-year-old was beside himself that the snowboarders were the only ones to actually read the sign on the table. “Mom,” he said, “they have awesome power of observation.” Yes indeed.

"The Good Wife," 9 p.m., CBS

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 8 p.m., ABC

I have an absolute Pavlovian response to this show: even just reading the descriptions gets the tear ducts flowing. Tonight, “The team helps build a home for the family of a 9-year-old girl whose leg was amputated as a result of injuries incurred while saving her sister from being hit by a car; professional athletes Dwight Howard and Katie Holloway meet the family.”
