Republicans will go to the polls on April 24 - at an estimated cost of $1 million - to vote for their presidential candidate to face Barack Obama in November. One name on that ballot, Rick Santorum, has already dropped out. Another, Newt Gingrich, has admitted in interviews he is out of the running. And a third, Ron Paul, is barely even mentioned as a contender anymore.
Mitt Romney is the de facto nominee for president for the GOP, even though states are continuing to hold primaries and caucuses. Av Harris, spokesman for the secretary of the state's office, said the total cost of the primary is about $1 million, paid at the local level by the 169 towns hosting the voting.
Is it worth it to spend $1 million on a race that has already been decided? Take our poll and add your thoughts in the comments.
I'm not saying I know everything, I'm trying to wake you up, you people are living off soundbites and cliche's I asked, prove me wrong, this isn't sports where you're a fan of your team no matter what, its politics and we're being lied to by both parties and the real issues are being avoided while people like Daria are selling the same'ol bull since 1980 and it failed. I posted the facts, the cause and the amounts we are short. Our founding fathers had hoped we would call our politicians to task and keep them in line, we failed miserably, but just like always its 'don't like the message? shoot the messenger"
The National Popular Vote bill changes the way electoral votes are awarded by states in the Electoral College, instead of the current 48 state-by-state winner-take-all system (not mentioned in the Constitution, but since enacted by states). Under National Popular Vote, every vote, everywhere, would be politically relevant and equal in every election. Every vote would be included in the state counts and national count. The candidate with the most popular votes in the country would get the 270+ electoral votes from the enacting states. That guarantees the candidate with the most popular votes in all 50 states and DC wins the presidency. The bill uses the power given to each state in the Constitution to change how they award their electoral votes for President. Historically, virtually all of the major changes in the method of electing the President, including ending the requirement that only men who owned substantial property could vote and 48 current state-by-state winner-take-all laws, have been by state legislative action. The bill has passed 31 state legislative chambers in 21 states. The bill has been enacted by 9 jurisdictions possessing 132 electoral votes - 49% of the 270 necessary to go into effect. I see no reason to vote Republican ever again, after 2000-2008 it just seems very foolish to put it mildly. One thing that sticks out is that from 2000-2006 the Republicans owned all 3 houses of govt. The House, Senate and White House. They could have done anything in those six years and never once did abortion come up, it would have been a slam dunk. What did they do?? De regulate anything they could and allow large corporations to have whatever they wanted, they gave Halliburton and other contractors many No Bid Contracts, they blew trillions of dollars, they created 0 jobs, it was a train wreck and then they kept the system afloat as W's term ended with huge bail outs, just so the wreck happened after he left office. So in come the dems in 2008 and they drop the ball miserably, simply because they too are owned by the same large corporations. An intelligent species would not elect either of them ever again.

http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7388130n This is what is called Fair & Balanced reporting (unlike faux), they nail Pelosi and Boehner and they show how both parties are corrupted in the same way. Corporations are giving politicians insider stock trading (but we had to jail Martha Stewart). This is how they get paid off, or at least one way, both parties. They supposedly just passed a law that stops this, but I am sure they put in some sort of loophole.
The truth scares you because it destroys the fantasy land you live in, that somehow the GOP is working for you and stopping the evil liberals, ohhhhh. How childish and pretty screwed up. I said very clearly that both parties suck and need to go, now go play with yourself. p.s. W didn't complete his service to his country either way. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killian_documents_controversy
And your response is to attack me? Unfortunatley this a G rated blog because I would tell you where to go. You should be asking Daria Novak if she has taken any insider trading and just what the hell she and others are doing in DC.
