Whereas drinking and driving can result in injury or death to innocent people, not wearing a seatbelt is ONLY a risk to YOURSELF and nobody else and should not be mandated. It's paternalistic BS.

I agree whole heartily !!! All these laws to protect people from themselves - it's disgusting and our freedoms are in severe decline because the state and the federal government has trashed them and we've let them. Pretty soon you'll need a permit to blow your nose so the state gets more money! Seat belts are a good idea but I don't see why it should be a driving violation not to use them.

If you swerve to avoid hitting something you may be thrown out of your seat, loosing control and killing someone... Wear your seat belt.

I wear my seatbelt, however, not wearing one back in 1995 saved my life. In any event, if we can't tell bikers to wear helmets, how can we justify telling drivers they have to wear seatbelts. And, if they are so protective, why aren't there seatbelts on school buses? Something to think about....

Why don't motorcycles have seatbelts? Even my lawn mower has one
