The Supreme Court ruled today that the government can mandate that Americans purchase health insurance. We want your reactions to the news on Obamacare.


In a landmark decision, both legally and politically, the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld President Barack Obama's sweeping healthcare law , including the central mandate that individuals must buy health insurance.

The contentious portion of the law — which drew disputes among Congressional lawmakers in 2009 and was fought on legal grounds by Attorneys General across the United States since — is considered the “heart” of the law, according to CBS.

“The decision creates some certainty surrounding federal health care policy, allowing federal and state rulemakers to, for now, implement this law,” CBS said.

According to The Associated Press, the high court “rejected arguments that Congress went too far in requiring most Americans to have health insurance or pay a penalty.”

In the United States there are 30 million people today who go without insurance. Through the mandate, the law hopes to stem this problem, as well as .

Thomas C. If you think OUR country is the wealthiest nation in the WORLD then why do we BORROW money from China??Tell that wealth story to the millions 12.7 of unemployed ,and the 30 million people on Social Security not to mention Medicaid and wellfare recipt. The Middle class is NOW in a LOWER middle class if that.

YES --Double taxation what most of the younger people don't know I also pay state income tax on my social security.

This is the best wake up call we have ever had , let us see if it creates the change needed to restore America to the image that we once had. November will tell the story and aside from the President all the rest of our " leaders " are subject to the popular vote .

Elissa...ye of little faith. Don't destroy the myth that the public has comprehension and much to impart on such complex issues. Congress certainly didn't understand the health care issue and the Supreme Court just tried to avoid adding themselves to the train wreck passenger list. Oh, for simpler days before we created a national Gong Show named Obamacare. I would like to hear what the 17 year olds think. Then again, I heard a 17 year old "like" talking at "like" the mall last week, like perhaps not.

To Citizen Voice-If and I say if you read all of the ACA and understood it 1. you are an attorney 2.had weeks on you hands 3.had a hard copy in your hands(because it is impossible to read online)And 4. are a genius because almost all the laywers coundn't understand the language in it .I got to page 325 and every page I read I had to say HUH,or got to (example)page 56 sec.201par 5.Why do you think it took theSUPREME COURT month to decide?
