Daily Five: Prom Weather, Prom Dinner, Prom Photos

Five things to know for Friday, May 25, 2012.

1. What's the Weather? According to our friends at the National Weather Service Friday will be cloudy with a high near 73. There's a chance for some showers and thunderstorms. Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62.

Saturday's forecast, or as we like to call it the Prom-cast, is partly cloudy, with a low around 63. Right now there's a "slight chance" or showers or thunderstorms. Cross your fingers.

2. Prom dinner: We're just curious, where do high school students go for their prom dinner? Or does that even happen anymore? Leave an answer in our comments box below.

While we've got your attention about prom, Patch is planning Red Carpet coverage of the Coginchaug High School prom Saturday night, so look your best and look for our photo gallery and video of the big event on Sunday.

3. Dramatic enough? Patch covered Thursday's , a dramatic reenactment designed to prevent kids from drinking and driving during prom and graduation season. Firefighters and EMS crews took part in on Thursday as well. It begs the question, does it work? Tell us what you think in the comments below.

4. Package Stores Open? Despite that local liquor stores were not planning to open on Sundays despite a new law allowing them to sell alcohol, we were contacted by the owner of Little Rooster Liquors who said the store would be open on Sunday and Monday — Memorial Day. Be sure to check your local store for holiday hours.

5. You can find great advice on Facebook: This comes from the Country Flower Farm Facebook page: "Your petunias may need deadheading after a few days of rain and high humidity. And yes, even the self-deadheading petunias will look much better after cleaning." Got a go-to Facebook page for great advice? Let us know where you go.
